An idea?
How about wrapping that little one in tape and have her roll around on the carpet? maybe that will pick up the glitter :)

Somehow you need to let it be known that you have your own house rules. Ben makes a good suggestion

Hand-brush it?
Wet carpet shampoo that area?
Use a lump of sticky tack tape,
press on the carpet,
see if glitter adheres to the tape.
The tape does not damage the
carpet hairs.

That glitter is nearly impossible to clean
My wife accidently dumped some once. Took forever; and I think there are teeny pieces still embedded somewhere!

Oh for the times I would have loved to be 'allowed' to tell other people's children off!! Mine behave really well when they are out (they can be nasty at home...but hey...so can I

) but to have to stay calm and patient when some other kid is doing stuff your own children get into trouble for....like jumping on your sofa, or throwing balls inside......is extremely successful. I did in fact once raise my voice to a group of very rude neighbourhood children who had really overstepped the boundary. I didn't yell, I wasn't nasty....but I just let it be known they had gone too far. Those mothers were on my doorstep in a flash..."How dare you tell my child off?" Glad we've moved from that street now!

I'm sorry to hear about the tinsel on the carpet.
I'm unsure how to remove .
How is it looking now after vacuuming?

Toddlers can be so cute, but they are a handful...especially when they are OP's (Other People's)LOL! Because you have to be all polite and zip your lip and say..'please don't do that sweetie" 50 times, when you really want to put them in a seatbelt on your couch....or glue them there! And you have to be all polite to the mother too...."oh...don't worry about the carpet...I needed to vacuum it anyway!" (Yeah...right...I just did it before you came...GRRR!) Hope you get a good rest....sounds like a tiring day.

Hello, Symphony, nope, boyfriend's looking for work. I had a mini-meltdown yesterday over Christmas, took it out on him, really not logical at all: to get upset about not being able to buy hiim gifts then take it out on him. I'm better now, I swear. Too bad about the carpet, I hear you there.

Oh, this person said this, that person said that, more people joined in the fray, and our good friend Roofpig slowly backed out. I won't drop any names, though, sorry. It was messy, though, and it'll probably start back up again soon, so keep your eyes open.
