Janes, I agree
I definetly think that is a major part of it. There are more and more people "seeking", unfortunately there are more and more ready to oblige them, even with false teaching and scams. As long as there are people searching for meaning in their lives or to fill that "God shaped void", there will be con artists-wolves in sheeps clothing. I think to as the time of Christs' return draws nearer, there will be more and more false prophets sprouting up. These are motivated by greed and the all mighty dollar, not on saving lost souls sadly.

I wonder if what this shows is the Church (as the body of Christ) is not doing its part to meet the emotional, spiritual and physical needs of the people?  So instead they search for other methods including such pathetic scams as this.

Aren't these scams something!? I get the "Godly" chain letters all the time too, they drive me nuts! They are an abominations to the Lord. I'm so glad I don't have to base my life around "luck", but rather on blessing and Gods divine will.
It is unfortunate that so many people are taken in by this kind of stuff and other scams like it. Just shows that there are people desperate and vulnerable enough.

Hi Jane.
Yes, I read the post, although, granted, rather quickly ... and I was thinking about whether or not this portion was wise of me in my response:  "Did Jesus instruct us to borrow or go into debt when giving charitably?  He did talk about the widow woman who gave her few pennies to “the church” and she was commended because she gave all that she had.  But she wasn’t going into debt in her giving to God."

You obviously did not read the entire post.  I do give to multiple charities and believe in them; however, some are rather fraudulent and I am not going to waste money on them.  Would I give my last $20 to a good, decent charity? You betcha!

Jane
Excellent post. So many "professing Christians" do such incredibly horrible things that it makes it difficult to wittness sometime. Who am I kidding? Christians hurt other Christians more than all the non believers do. Most of us trust them, except in such dumb situations as this one. I personally cannot think of how someone would try to pull something on God.

Well, actually, I did use the last twenty dollars on my credit card once to give to the starving people in Africa.  They kept sending me pictures of a famine struck land, and really was on the financial edge myself at the time, so I guess I decided what somebody else should do with their money in sending it to the Africans.  It seemed like the right thing to do.  I mean, if somebody is dying, you go get help, and you don't worry about the money.

Good post, Janes.  God tells us to give but he also tells us to be good stewards and to be aware of those seeking to devour.

Keep Rambling!

Hey Nice Going

Keep on writing this stuff.  Even Christains can smell a scam when they find one.  Please tell Ol' Rev. Ike where to put his $20 for me.  It's important that us believers put the truth (which is never relative) before any bogus loyalties to some lying creep even though he claims to be a Christian.  Keep callin' 'em like you see 'em.
