Cynthia, "group think" happens and in any tyoe of group think arrangement,
they do not like independent thinkers!

WHAMENATOR, the commune
experience I'm writing about here is not religious and did not recruit me. I sought them out, and ultimately begged them to take me in. People were encouraged to speak there minds, but a definite "group think" happens in these situations which I did get to observe first hand.

RachelAnna, I'm still
a take charge type, but my commune living experience was great, for what it was.

Cynthia, one religious group that recruited me had a commune-like set up.
I asked too many questions though and they wound up losing interest in me.
All "members" that wanted to show their "commitment to serve" were required to live and work at the commune for a year, for a stipend that covered the cost of deoderant and otherwise for free.
I was the one that asked, if everyone here works for free, where does all of the money that you take in as tithes, which seems like a lot of money.... where or to whom does all of the money go????!!!!!!!!
That was the only time I ever was invited to the Compound and they even stopped inviting me to their Bible Studies. I think I was designated a Disruptive Force or something like that!
I was supposed to be so impressed that I also volunteered to be a slave for a year. I was not supposed to ask questions!

You sound a lot like me.
I don't wait for people to take care of me, I take care of it all on my own, even when I don't have to. It's just my nature, I guess. Definitely a take charge person!
