Symph, you must be exhausted - take a long, hot bath and don't come out until your fingers are all pruney

Gallstones can be extremely painful (feels like a heart attack sometimes) but can usually be fixed up no problem. Fatty food seems to trigger attacks as does not eating all day and then having a meal. The key is DON'T WAIT forever to get them looked at. I had my gall bladder out, tickety boo and was on a plane to Ireland 7 days later for vacation. Ate and drank my face off while I was there with no problems other than a few wicked hangovers !
What happens sometimes is the gall stone can lodge itself between the gall bladder and the liver and get stuck. If this happens, your liver backs up and thats BIG problems, emerg surgery and possible liver problems after.
Soooooo, long story short, convince your mom to take the plunge and get the pesky thing out. She'll be happy she did !
