I see your point there, but gosh darn it all, I disagree with you.
'My God' is not really taking the name in vain, close but it does not have the same implication as saying 'God Damn It'. For one thing 'My God' is often used as a way to express awe at something or interest. Some times it is used in a very similar way as 'God Damn It', but not so much. 'My God' really can have a rather positive implication to it.

Not That...
you asked for my opinion, Kooka, but the phrase "My God" or the one I hear much more of "Oh, my God" is actually seen by myself as a phrase of disrespect to God; in the same way as taking His name in vain. I will not even comment on the "MF" phrase. However, it is always encouraging to me to see you writing the name GOD!

I think what Kooka may have been trying to get across is you don't actually have to believe the same thing as someone to still consider agreeing with them in some terms.
You say Kooka's posts apeal to you logically. Just because you are trying to see someone's viewpoint, doesn't mean you are giving up your own beliefs or even that you have to.

I think that those who
are completely certain about their beliefs are less willing to listen to other beliefs if they differ with their own. I've had people with whom I agree, try to debate me because I don't use the same language to describe what I believe.
I don't completely agree with your definition of open mindedness, but whatever you call the ability to listen to another person who disagrees with you, without reacting, it is a good quality.

I don't get it...
No, I do. I've stated before that I read both your posts as well as unicorn's in an attempt to keep myself open-minded and learn more. You keep the logical side of me satiated, while unicorn gives my spiritual side something to consider. It often has me at odds with myself inside, but I tolerate it because I won't give in to one side or the other just for the sake of "feeling good."
