I can totally relate..
Really, I have NO friends where I live, and I've been here for two years. I don't know anyone here, and sometimes I wish I had a girlfriend to call up and invite over to talk to, to hang out with, whatever.
But, I have to settle for my long distance friends. I don't really feel like I have a whole lot to offer a friend. I am very into my family, my writing--things that don't involve a friend.
And, I've been burned too many times by "friends" that I don't really know how to trust women. Ugh...

Hi Symph. I'm a single mom, and also a workaholic. It is difficult for me
to make time to develop friendships too. I know what you're saying. You should however, schedule at least "outings" as they will take you away from your worries for a while. I regularly schedule these for the sake of my own sanity!

I understand you feelings!
My social life is zero at this point. lol. I think being social is important even if you have to force yourself to be social a little bit, it will pay off. It was great reading your post and your kids are beautiful!

Symphony,
you know I adore you, but you really deserve to have "real" friends. Somene to go to the movies with, have coffee with, gossip about the neighbors with, commiserate about the horrid school play costumes with. We are good substitutes - but we are really only so many characters on the screen.

How does a "real" friend stand a chance among all your "virtual" friends?
Oceandancer is right. Friendships develop. The key is to let them.
Be yourself just as you do here.. ;-). Take care.

We do all seem to be friends here!
Most of us are concerned about the people we have come to know and like. I think you should take a hard look at yourself and really find who you are. When you are satisfied with that and the direction you want to go then you can work on things such as friends. Keep plugging away though.

Great, thought provoking post Symphony
Amazing - often I feel like friends here understand and relate on a much deeper, real level than those around me physically. I just had lunch with a casual friend and it was all light and fluffy, fun yet not the same as the bonds on Blogit. Take care and have a lovely week-end friend.

Hey, Symphony!
Yer doing grand. It's so great you're here!
They say it's more difficult to make friends as you get older, but not impossible. You'll find them when you least expect, I think. Sometimes they sneak up on you over time, and suddenly you realize, Hey! This person is my friend.

Sometimes I think my "virtual friends" are more real than my real physical
friends. I hope you find what you're needing in your "real" world...meanwhile, we're all here for you and love you!
