- Go to I have a date! She's a redhead.
Why do I doubt you go nuts cleaning for your friends? :)
BTW- have you checked out your madlib? I am a gay designer in your madlib... oh! also... this is turning into a letter.. but, I recently read somewhere that you are 45. I thought you'd find it amusing that I thought you were at most 28. hehe.

My little Taylor likes to help me clean by putting all the toys on the floor. To him, that is neat, he can see all of them at once! hehe

I think that's why I do it too- I think I would feel a bit offended if someone I was visiting didn't bother to toss out the old pizza boxes in honor of my visit. Which reminds me....

Since you can't kill that other person, can you have her make some cookies for me? :)

ISN - again, I am much like you - I wold put "my best foot forward" as
it were--that's how I was raised--there is nothing wrong with it - some see it as common courtesy.

ISN...
You don't really want to be friends with a nitt picky person anyway. I say leave the house a big mess and test her mettle. If she likes you anyway then you're onto something.

If she likes you she won't care what your house looks like, if she doesn't there is no amount of cleaning that will satisfy her.

I want the house to be clean when friends
esp. new friends come over, but it is almost never tidy. After all the wee baby has a nasty habit of following me around the house as I clean up pulling back down everything that I just put away. It's really just exercise at that point... LOL!

I know exactly where you're coming from....I do the exact same thing myself!! I know in my head that my friends are coming to see ME and not my house, I also know in my head that if my friends saw the way my house is usually on a daily basis and they disliked me because of it...then they are no friends of mine because they are shallow and I hate shallowness, I have even been TOLD over and over....we don't care about where you live or what you do...it's
you we like and want to visit. But does this stop the emergence of that
other personality.....the super-efficient, exquisitely neat, not a hair out of place, not a toy in sight, owner of a display home answering the door with a platter of freshly made goodies in one hand and a freshly percolated coffee pot in the other? NO!!...I have tried to kill that other person, but to no avail...she is immortal and I'm afraid I have to live with her and all the little voices in my head telling me "Gosh you're sooo
shallow!!"

Jeff-
That was more judegmental than I deserved.... I think.... but anyway, I think people stay friends because of the real stuff, the rest is just to make sure I don't put forth a messy house....
