Hey Rainbow, I'd agree that the best advice is to post often and write lots of comments on others' blogs. They feel obliged to check out your blogs and respond in kind. I have been a bit controversial as well, but in general I think if you spend awhile reading others' blogs you'll have the most success. I'm still not at the top, but usually rank in the first page which is good enough for me!

Add these:
1. Take firm, controversial stances.
2. Use provocative titles or lead lines...or at least clever ones. Not too clever.
3. Oh, yes.. decide first how far you want to prostitute your blog's contents to garner readers, versus your internal integrity. No conflict? Then no problem!

Thank you for the advice
I know I need to post more, and I think "Curbside Chat" is going to become my main blog. The other is mainly because sometimes there are just things on TV (usually commercials) which are so pitiful, they deserve a blog.
You guys gave me great advice. I appreciate it!

Additional Suggestions
Here are some additional suggestions that may help increase your blog's readership, which in turn helps improve rankings and earnings:
* Initially, add posts to a single blog, instead of creating multiple blogs. Readers will be more likely to remember your blog's name.
* Post frequently, at least once a day if possible. Recently updated blogs will appear on the home page under New Posts, and are also more likely to appear in Featured Blogs.
* Split long posts into several shorter ones. Many online readers prefer to read shorter posts.
* Read and comment on other writers' posts. Interested readers will click your nickname to read your blogs, and the blog's author may recommend your blog.
* When a post receives comments, it is likely that the topic appeals to readers. Consider writing on similar topics.
* To appeal to different groups of readers, write multiple blogs on different topics.
While Blogit automatically ensures that your writing shows up as an excerpt when someone does a Google search on that topic you will have most success when you promote your writing both on and off Blogit.
Let friends and family know that you're writing on Blogit. If you read other writers or blogs outside of Blogit, link to their work and ask them to link back to your Blogit blogs.
And finally make sure you use the Referral Program to sign up new subscribers who're mostly interested in your work. This will ensure that you'll receive the Referral bonus for each qualified subscriber (currently $10 for each new Blogit member) as well as a reader mostly interested in your work (and thus contributing a significant part of their monthly subscription to your earnings).

Look up QuirkyAlone's hints for getting up the popularity list.
Some basics:
Post regularly (noticed that you have two blogs, one 26 days old, and the other with the previous posting in August(?))
Comment regularly on other peoples' blogs.
Remember that you are supposed to use your "reading dollars" to spread among the rest of the bloggers - keeping it to yourself means nobody benefits!
And notice where you are in the "populrity stakes" - somebody must be clicking on you
