I made a mistake on the comment.
My comment ended up being so long that I wrote a new post.

justsouno,
me too! I was confused on that one too, as well as the other. I thought maybe Make2 was having a computer problem and didn't get the rest of the comment out there. But I'm just left scratching my head.
Hi by the way!

What do you mean you think that evangelical? What is evangelical? What are you talking about. Please be specific. Can you point out segments you are answering? I do no mean to sound harsh, I am only trying to understand where you are comeing from.

I have a difficult time with your analogy of a Christian. First one can not read, practice or espouse a section of the Bible and leave all the rest and live a Christian life. The Old Testament is the example of how closely God governs his people. There is hunger, poverty, illness and any of the other horrible issues because of disobedience. Everything in the New Testament was Jewish until the Assention. If you read your Bible carefully you will see that the Lord has said I put before you this day blessings and curses, life and death choose ye therefore life. Do you not know that there was a greater power than man involved in this vote?

could you please explain your last comment; "I read the mercy, he reads the judgement". Does that mean that you think President Bush is only reading the judgement portions of the Bible, or did you mean that God reads the judgement?

Thanks, JJ
The bible has both mercy and judgement. I read the mercy, he reads the judgement.

To me, yours are the views
of a true Christian, I don't know what Bible the president and others like him are reading.

I vote as a Christian because my values are Christian. As to using my intellect, being a Christian and a rational person aren't mutually exclusive. I determine my values by my interpretation of Christianity. I make decisions through both thought and values.

Thanks you for your well written response. I'm glad that you find my views on Christianity helpful.

Make2Short,

I have been meaning to comment in your blogs, but I have not commented as much as I normally would for the past week or so. (Personal problems & lack of time.) However, I have read your stuff. In fact, I printed out a bunch of your latest posts and read them at work. I really appreciate your insights.

Though I am a Democrat and not a Christian, I can honestly say that I find your views as a Christian refreshing to read. I do not agree with all abortion, though I am Pro-Choice. One of my biggest problems with one of the Amendments was forcing females under the age of 18 to get mandatory parental consent to have an abortion. This will clearly bring back "back alley abortions" and self-inflicted terminations leading to serious injury and deaths just like it did before abortion was legalized.

The only thing I find myself in disagreement with your post is when you stated, "I believe in these things because I am Christian." I would hope you believe in "these things" because it is what YOU, as your own thinking, feeling, and decision-making human being is why you believe in what you do. You seem to be an intelligent person with your own feelings (and some that go against what many "Christians" believe) which tells me you may actually believe what you do because YOU feel it in YOUR heart and mind; not because you're a Christian. Just my opinion.
