Computers remember
what links you've followed. As long as you have the little bits of information from that site in your internet cache/files folder, it'll look clicked, and the names will change color.
For example, I get bright blue for people or things I haven't read, and purple for things I have read.

Inherent Rights is correct. Mind you sometimes it shocks me what I click on

Quirkmyer,
It does have to do with what you've clicked on. A link will change color when you click on it, and then I assume it's stored in the short term memory of your computer, which after a while (if you don't click on it again) it reverts back to the blue of an un-clicked link. If you're seeing purple links you've never clicked on before - well, perhaps someone else has been clicking them?

Like you,
I have always assumed it had to do with whom I had clicked on. Now I will have to look more carefully.
