Muscle weighs a heck of a lot more than fat. Try doing cardio exercises if you want to lose inches.

It seems that the muscle you gain weighs more, so you can lose inches and still be the same weight. Then, when you quit working out, your body's metabolism kept going at a higher rate, and you lost some more.
