- Go to GOD IS SO POWERFUL HE NEEDS MAN MADE LAWS TO GET PEOPLE TO FOLLOW HIS LAWS
neamer
If you wish to say that God is weak and needs man to make laws to back up his own laws, then go ahead. It does not sound like the basic idea of the Christian God.
And what does it matter? The acts alone do not help one get into heaven. It is a belief in God right? So what does it serve to force God's laws on people who are going to go to Hell anyway? Homosexuals are already damned for their lfiestyles, what is served by making laws that take away their freedoms just becasue God is said to be against the lifestyle?
Is it not the whole idea of free will to allow us to make the choice to follow God's laws or not? Is it not up to us if we wish to live our lives by the Bible?
Also, are you saying that Christians are so weak and their beliefs are so weak that they need man made laws to help them be able to better follow God's laws?
There is no logic at all in taking God's laws and making them man's laws. The founding ideas of the USA make it clear that such a thing should not be done. The laws need to reflect the idea of people's freedoms above any religious influences.
Might I humbly suggest a course in logic before undertaking such discussions?

Kooka ...
Your "point" (for lack of a better word) overlooks the simple matter of Free will ..you know, the essential atribute that sets man apart from other life forms and the required ingredient for Love?. ( Try to imagine love with will)God law is written in the hearts of men in order to protect man from the destructive choices his free will allows him to make, but it doesn't insulate us from said choices completely, murder being as popular as it was in Cain and Able's day. The Law (Ten Commandments) was written to save man from man, Christ came to save man from the Law (Man's preversions of it)
Might I humbly suggest a course in logic before undertaking such discussions?

Good post kooka!
And despite what you think…I really mean that…
Gods “law” and man’s laws…are two very separate things…

Witty, in order for it to be legal you still need to obtain a marriage license before the religious ceremony.

It's different here than it is in America. For instance, I think if a couple are married in the US in a religious ceremony, that makes it legal? Here, it's not legal, they would only be married "in the sight of God" and in theory wouldn't be married at all. All our official laws are man-made, nothing counts if it's purely a religious 'law'. As the majority of people are non-believers, it wouldn't make sense anyway.

Yes, I suppose that God (if he exists) should be powerful and wise enough that he doesn't need man to do his policework. (Who would be responsible for the paperwork anyway?)

Yes, and it's nice when someone agrees with you too.
