Make2short, I am blown away with your generalizations and accusations. You obviously do not know any Republicans -- or at least any of the "new Republicans, the religous conservatives." How dare you make those accusations -- that the Republicans just want to get richer, pay fewer taxes, send their chilren to private schools and who don't care what happens to children who might have been aborted but were not. How dare you. So let me guess, you must get all of your news from the NY Times, Mother Jones, N.O.W., National Abortion Rights League and other way left liberal publications and organizations. Have you ever stopped to think that they're way off base, way left slanted and frequently wrong?
Here's what the Republican dream is: smaller government and lower taxes which will allow more people to keep more money in their pockets resulting in greater generosity to churches and other organizations that can help people who have had less success in life. Guess what -- this works! Rather than creating a huge bureacracy (something you Dems just love) which is frequently corrupt (your term, not mine) and that becomes bankrupt over time (look at Socialist Russia), why not let people have more control over their own resources so that they in turn can be of assistance to people with less? I've actually seen this in action at my church, and read about it happening all over the USA. So those "New religious conservative Republicans" of whom you speak are actually out there actively working to make an extraordinary difference while you're bellyaching of that which you haven't a clue -- and waiting for BIG GOVERNMENT to take over so you don't have to lift a finger.
And furthermore, you have NO idea the number of conservative religious Republicans (a lable you make sound like a four letter word) who are adopting those children of which you spoke who are "born instead of aborted."
To be brutally honest, I have seen religious conservatism at its best, and you liberal Dems cannot hold a candle to it. I have seen the love of God in action -- not through government funded free cheese and condom handouts -- but through church sponsored, parishioner funded childrens' camps; or homes opened wide for unmarried pregnant and poor women; or outreaches to prisons and prisoners' children by completely volunteer Christian teams; or shoeboxes filled to the brim with all sorts of goodies, sent to poor children across the world. So until you have a clue, please don't be spouting off about conservative Christian Republicans. You have no idea what goes on, the goodness that surpasses anything a government bureacracy or labor union could begin to put into practice. You have NO idea, and you should be ashamed!

Neither party is accountable to the American people. They are both in the pockets of the rich elites and multinational corporations, so all our votes are essentially worthless.

I vote according to my convictions...
rather than because of a political party. I've also done alot to help "the down and out", some have painted themselves into a corner and don't want help from anyone...Democratic or not.
