Mentifex, yes that offers many reasons
for a war (here you are dealing with a specific type of conflict) - but as you show the reasons are of opposed sign; the question is: how valid are reasons that cover both the side of the story?
On the other hand, the question is more: how many really know the reason for a conflict they are in? How much of their motivation is just reaction? How much of their motivation has nothing to do with real reason of that conflict? ....
