Christians are not followers of Jesus
The purpose of Christianity is to Crucify. Jesus was crucified. This is their symbol of perfection. You can't be a Christian if you don't ebrace the cross and its reality of suffering and death--the reward you get is a "resurrection" to an afterlife of flesh and spirit, to live forever. The results is that you get Christians who must, compelled, to crucify others for sin to validate the death of Jesus. If they aren't up to the disgusting job of demeaning and shaming others, they will do a very successful job on themselves (if you save but one soul, your reward is in heaven) crucifying themselves for failing the law and commandments of their beloved Savior and God the Father. These wear the badge of sin and pride themselves for being sinners---sinner for Jesus---so that his crucifixion was not in vain. If Christians really want to BE CHRISTIAN, they'd chuck Paul and keep to what Jesus had to say--Love, serve, be at peace, strive, patience, meekness, etc. all humanity and not run with the death and destruction of bigotry. Judiasm perverted the message of Jesus and we have Christianity. I see the man Jesus and honor his name by being a supporter of humanity, seek after peace and promote love with my brothers and sisters of our Mother Earth and Father Sun. If they want to call me evil--than is evil good.
Peace,
FR

Just an old family tradition.
They are treading in the steps of their forefathers.
There has been lots of killing and torture in the name of Christianity.
(other religions too, but we're deep in this "Christian Nation", so we have to talk about what we know.
I wish it weren't so, but it is.
I'm with you -- the most vociferous Christians are the least Christian. You and I both have been victims of one or more (t[he]y know who t[he]y are).
These are they who give Christianity a bad name. If so many of those Christians I have encountered hadn't been as you described, I wouldn't think badly of particularly evangelical Christians, but they have.
They seem to retreat into their religion, then use their religion to attack what seems to shake their faith. It is a comfort zone and if they perceive a threat to that comfort zone, then they defend it.
If that is their faith and if it is unshakeable, then they should go ahead and feel comfortable in it and understand that others feel equally comfortable where they are.
There are those out there who are insecure, etc., and who are looking for security.
We broadcast our individual securities here, and if one comes along looking for an "answer", then that prson will certainly find what he/she is looking for here on Blogit.
If a Christian wants someone to respect his/her religion, then that person should also exude respect for others. The Apostle Paul did not engage in divisive speech when he evangelized. He respected the religions of those around and even used it (Jewish Scriptures, the monument to the "unknown god") to promulgate his faith.
I have come to respect much of Christianity a whole lot less now.

I like your line, "I must have missed the part where Jesus says it is fine to break all the laws if it is done in God's name." That really sends the message.

Indictment of Christianity
In your rantings and your judgments of Christians, remember this...It would be better to be an athiest than to be the type of Christian you describe. If what you describe were true of ALL Christians, I would be an athiest too. Pride and vanity are the downfall of most "back-slidden" Christians. Self-importance too. It is not my job as a Christian to judge anyone (that's Our Father's job), to fight with anyone (one cannot hold a gun to someones head, and force them to love GOD) or to convert anyone (Father's Holy Spirit does that). My job is to talk, plainly and truthfully about Our Father...period. Father loves ALL of His Children...you too.
