I agree, Psalms 14:1 is a very big lie indeed.

Biggest Lie?
Psalms 14:1
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there none that doeth good.

I am a stickler for honesty. All my kids have learnt the hard way that I will not tolerate lies. Maybe that is why I'm an atheist, because I choose not to believe the biggest lie ever told.

One point to consider is
Atheist are honest.
They honestly relate their perception of god.

Empathy
We do right by others because we feel for them as fellow living beings. That is all we need--no threat of hell, nor promise of heaven. Empathy, something Steeler clearly does not understand. Kooka, you should read the comments he writes on my blogs.

You made it clear that you thought anyone who does not believe in God was lacking in morals and therefore should not be worried about lying.
As for my Blog, 'Do You Know What These Words Mean'. They are not my definitions. As I say in ever post there, they come for the New Webster's Dictionary. I just write what the doctionary says, nothing more.
I said all the atheist I know of are moral and all the immoral people I have known in my life have been Christians. I clearly said not all Christians I have known are immoral, just all the immoral people I have known have been Christians. I even said in my post that everyone lies. You might want to learn to read if you got some other impression, because I know I stated that very clearly. Go and reread the post, and really read it this time and you will see all of what you just said is about as wrong as can be. I never said what you are claiming I said.
So by you saying that I am immoral because I do not believe in God that you are not trying to say you are better than me? Funny, but when someone tells me that I have no moral values because I do not believe as they do, I find it very hard to believe that hey are not saying they are better than me. If you claim to have greater morals than I do and that I am a liar just because of my beliefs, you are saying you are better than I am. There really is no other way to take what you said. If there is I would love to hear it. Here for all to see is that quote once more.
'Why are you so concerned about either conservatives or liberals lying? You are an atheist. What does it matter to you? After all, according to you, since there is no God then their is no one to judge lies. Come on, man, at least practice the garbage that you believe.'
You are saying that since I am not worried about judgment that I should be immoral and not worry about when people do wrong. You are making it clear you do not think highly of atheist and figure them all to be immoral and there fore beneath you. You should try to practice your own garbage.

As The Bible...
reads in Psalms 116, "All men are liars." I feel as though you have a naive philosophy about Christians. I can name many who are liars like Jim and Tammy Faye Baker, what a joke they were. There are many liars in your own church. However, to say that all of the athiest never lie and all Christians do lie is quiet a stretch there kooka. What a generalization! You seem to think when I say anything it is meant as being superior. Not in the least bit is it conveying superiority; I just disagree with you. That is why I go to church because I am a sinner. I am not superior to you at all. I know people like the ones you speak of. However, I sin as they do as well, but that is why I pray to God and that is why I attend worship. I am disappointed when I know someone who has read God's word and knows it but chooses not to believe. That is not to say I am perfect do as I say, I am superior.

This Is Great...
because I have obviously hit a nerve. You actually did not quote the "meaning of words" or was the blog "the meaning of words according to Kooka."
moral- adj. 1. Of or concerned with the discernment or instruction of what is good and evil.
Good and evil. Westwend, does good and evil have anything to do with the Bible or God? Not once did I say that this was the only reason not to lie. Not once. But , of course, as I stated earlier, you went on your assumptions to try and prove your point. There are many reasons not to lie. For myself, God is the most important reason not to lie.

doesn't take God
to judge lies
or to j udge the rightness or wrongness of lies.
the commandment -- really a precept (real meaning of Hebrew word) -- syas thusly:
first we take away the THOU SHALT NOT -- that was added by KJV translators.
There is a negative there, though -- so we do use it.
So le't ssay it -- We should not bear false witness against our neighbor.
We ask is a lie false witness?
Witnessing on the court stand is speaking as evidence for or against (usually) someone.
false witness is basically perjury -- or slander. since it is "against thy neighbor", then we understand that it has adverse consequences for our neighor.
so basically it says we should not slander or perjure other people -- comes under the axiom: "Do no harm."
But does it take god for us to understand that this is not correct bahavior?
of course not.
