good points - we definitely remember more easily the things, people, conversations (whatever) that don't go along with our current beliefs, thoughts, views (etc.).

Christian Persecution?

your mathmatics are pristine, Kooks, and shows further how far the Christian (right) community will go to gain sympathy through false persecution--while spewing out hate language of their own they want to shut out any vocalization of reason by calling it "hate-language."  For this reason, I often let my Christian friends and relations know that I don't hate them, I just don't accept thier baseless arguements for cursing my humanity and I am angry at the effects the preaching of sin, shame and guilt have had on civilization.  This goes over their heads though and they conveniently deflect the blame on the pagans, agnostics and atheists.

Also, though you have a "christian" for your model and assume that they are most effected by their conversation with atheist--more probable is that any one of the "christians" this particular "christian" came in contact with began to prostilitize its particular brand of christianity and heated debate insued between the two--so much so that the atheist would walk away in complete satisfaction and mirth.  The worlds conflicts have been seated in the divisivness of Christianity itself and more have suffered over differences in doctrine than in any chance encounter with a person of reason.

Peace,

FR

Westwend stated what I was thinking, and I also think it's great that you stand by your convictions while still being open enough to engage in debate.

people I talk to
many are non-church goers.
our new priest
almost all her friends she describes as "not being Christian".
I believe there is a growing population of people eschewing the old Christian ways and explanations. These people are not "atheists", but they have developed, I think, an alternative explanation of humans' place in the Universe, rejecting the old gods of Christianity.
You see, it takes a lot of blind faith to accept a lot of Christian belief.
It also takes a lot, though, for Christians to see why people are turning their backs on the "faith of their fathers".
