I believe I must forgive myself before I even think of forgiving others.

you're my son.

so you're saved just because i'm saved.

tell them they need not attempt salvation of your sordid soul.

besides its sordid enough

a family thing you know.

saving should solidify soul sordidity

here's the thingt
E Pluribus Unum
of many, one.
Our strength as a whole should be in our tolerance for diversity.
respect the individual and the individual will respect you, whether you are another individual, or group of some sort or division or subdivision, government or political.
I hate hate.
Cannot tolerate intolerance
am biased toward bias.

it's live and let live.

Kooka
Remember my blog in News about a vote for Bush being unChristian?  Right after your comment is a comment by Steelerman.  When you read it, you will understand the true intentions of Fundamentalism.  This is what I fight against over there.  We need you in News and Politics! Hurry!

Passing the Buck-Relationship or Religion?

You strike at the heart of the matter, Kooka, which, as the comments prove, never are taken seriously by fundalmentalists who refuse to see the corruption in the Bible and all the variations on a theme that has come about over the centuries.  It is even deeper than you stated, as I posted in Congregation and subsequent segments from Immorality of Christianity last year.  It takes alot to break through the lies and deceits weaved into Christianity to seriously take a look at what is really happening to society because of this devisive, bigoted and anti-humanity religious cult.

Peace,

FR

God Forbid!
If all those Christians got together under the same banner---oh God, I don't even want to think about it. It would be the end of civilization as we know it.

Kooka -
Take a look at an earlier post I had (Thursday of this week, I believe). It might help to explain why there are so many variations and beliefs in Christianity. Ultitmately I believe, if one lives a truthful, loving life  then one has helped move Love forward. And that, no matter what one believes, is all we can ask for.

Relationship vs Religion.

Your points are well taken. Christianity as stated by its founder, hopes that all will be one "11I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name--the name you gave me--so that they may be one as we are one". (John 17:11) Christ also warns us against divisivness and legalism in His clear statement of the Greatest Commandment; "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[2] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[3] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." (Matthew 22:37-40).

Paul remindes us that we are incapable of both on our own, but that Christ said; Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." (Matthew 19:26) and he goes on;   "21So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22For in my inner being I delight in God's law; 23but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. 24What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? 25Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord! ( Romans 7:21-25).

Christ also said to Satan himself; "3The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread."
4Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'(Matthew 4:3-4)

To reply to your inquirey, I believe that the aformentioned will be perceived  merely as "Bible Thumping" unless one has a PERSONAL and INTIMATE relationship with Jesus Christ. There is no way to earn one or discover one by own's own efforts or merit. It can only come about if asked for with a sincere heart, Put simply(a deliberate over simplefication); ""Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." (Matthew 7:7)

The single most powerful dynamic in the Universe is God's love. It allows us to Love Him in return and love one another as ourselves.

15"If you love me, you will obey what I command." (John 14:15)

You are absolutely correct in saying that most people who call themselves "Christians" do not display evidence of compliance with either of God's Greatest Commandments. That comes from having "Religion" but no relationship with Him. He years for us to partake of His infinite love and mercy. He is the originator of "Dying to give it to you" as He died to do so. Pray for us and pray that you do. He awaits to answer that prayer with loving arms.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter. Pray before you repond ... just a suggestion, given in Truth and Love. :-) Peace be with you.

Well
According to many here I am damned to hell already.
So unless your religion is the right one, I guess I'll be seeing you down there as well old man.

I have always wondered if Al Capone went to Paradise.

or Benito Mussolini.

You know that if you've lived a perfect life and are not of the same religion that they are you won't  -- you know?
