Go to BUILDING A NEW RELIGION FROM THE GROUND UP

Sin? That's a very loaded word. I'm going to have to think on it. Stimulating words as usual. Thanks, Aard

You Are Both Right
I think that the institution of religion has done some good for the world. I think a lot of social changes in the last 150 years can be traced back to efforts by the church, so Friar Tuck is right. But I also agree with Westwend in that the church has stilted the spiritual growth of most of its flock. It focuses too much on the external side of spirituality (rituals, looking to church leaders for guidance and for the moral compass) and forget's that Yeshua's message was that the kingdom is within and that we each can access it as well as move toward sinlessness by working on our own link to the divine.

Oh please
please also read the later epistles of Paul, especially 1 and 2 Timothy and you'd find out that he was laying the groundwork for an institutionalized religion. Besides, you also find hints of this in those letters where he mentions particular roles within the community.
Don't blame the institution, because institutions have something good in them.

The Law came from
the guy who saw what he had done and didn't approve of himself. (I'm guessing here, and I could, of course, be wrong about that.)
