I wrote such a long reply to this I've decided to turn it into a blog entry or no one else would have fit in.  Will link to this when it's done.

the opiate for the masses
I am agnostic, or perhaps a Deist; I am not sure.  But the Bible is very problematic, too much so to be taken literally.  Every drug addict and criminal I know is a Fundamentalist Christian. Every single one.  I've never done anything so terrible that my guilt consumes me, but I am sorry for the things I have done, and I can hardly imagine going through life with murder on my hands.  But humanism is such a better alternative to Christianity.  Why doesn't it appeal to the prison population, so to speak?  I think that the elements which attract people like PIMP are the same ones that led him to be a "sinner" in the first place.  Violence, the repression of women, superstition before fact, irrational anger at the world--these are the running themes of the Bible.  What I'd like to know is how Fundamentalists can say they live in Christ and then damn everyone as they support the death penalty and unjust war.  Abortion-bad (the woman thing again).  Killing thousands of civilians in Iraq for no good reason--good. Go figure.

like darts, you have to practice

sinning less.

one Greek word that KJV renders sin means "missing the mark".

beautiful concept.

there's the goal -- the mark -- the bullseye -- the target

"love thy neighbor as thyself"

"do unto others as you would have others do unto you"

"live is patient, love is kind, love is longsuffering . . . " etc.

did you hit the mark today?

if not, that's ok.  practice, baby, practice.

I have never liked the term sin myself. The idea of Sin says that a person does not have enough sense to know right from wrong.

And I will agree that in truth Christianity should be about something more than just getting into Heaven by believing in God, but in actual practice and by the rules often set up by Christians, it is rarely little more than that. One of the big propaganda they often use is that you needs God's forgiveness or you will go to Hell. Belief in God is more important to Christians than living a good, moral life.

Is there any action that you would consider "a sin"? I find it's a somewhat loaded term. I think Christian doctrine has a bit more to it than " a get into heaven free card", but some get the gist of your argument.

Don't know.
But I just look at it and the word is pimp, even if you put little periods between the letters. There is a lot of preconceived ideas that go with pimp or P.I.M.P. and if you are trying to get a Christian friendly persona going, those ideas are going to go against that. My guess is he thinks it is cute and that there is some joke to it. He does not see or care about possible offense or that the name alone is against his preached ideas. When I first saw it I never figured him for a conservative christian.

But PIMP is spelled P.I.M.P.
It's not really PIMP

What does P.I.M.P. stand for ???

There is a lot about P.I.M.P. that does not make sense to me. If you read his stuff and see his comments he is a very, very contradictory person. A Christians going by the name P.I.M.P. and trying to preach Christians values, that alone make no sense at all. Then he talks about forgiveness and the idea of an all loving God, but then damns homosexuals to hell and calls people liars and racist just because they disagree with his views. My guess he is has a great burden of sin that has caused his mind to view being a hypocrite as a healthy way of life.

I don't know how a person like P.I.M.P.

can say he feels any better about himself while he's still calling himself an abuser of women.  Isn't that what a pimp is?
