This blog...
Was intended to be controversial, and I am guilty of using terms and phrases that were meant to stir response. Would a more reasoned approach have recieved any comments? I see I have made all of you think, and you returned the favor.

Ooh, this is a controversial subject
that I pefer to stay away from. None of us really know for sure that God's plan entailed us doing things that he would find immoral. He also doesn't want us fighting and hating each other, but it is written in the Bible that it will happen. Is stem cell research in the Bible by any chance?

Whatever you think of her politics, TF...
Anyone who devotes so much of themselves to their dying spouse, and goes through the agony of watching them turn into a stranger, dying for years; deserves a lot of admiration and respect. She lived through a lot of heartache watching Ronald Reagan live within the prison of Alzheimer's, as do all those who nurse a victim of the disease to the grave. Not very nice ThomasFranklin, show a little compassion for the humanity of it, don't be such a political hack...

The whole idea is...
not to force people that have objections to these things to donate, which I doubt they would be in a position to do anyway. An interesting debate. If you object, do you then not want any of the benefits of the research for your family, ever? I can understand why people object. I do not endorse wholesale farming operations as such, or paying people for donations. I would hope from research there would be discovered other ways to arrive at the same type of treatment without having to have actual embryos. I have heard of advances in this area, and indeed, there are other stems cells that can be used for other therapies that come from our stored body fat.

While I'm not sure I agree that stem cell research is a good thing...
I enjoyed the read none-the-less. I have a problem with embryonic stem cell research, for the obvious reasons, but yet, I do understand the potential for scientific advancements from it. I guess this is what makes me feel like I'm a middle of the road, Independant. I'm too empathetic, sometimes, to everyone's point of view. Nancy Reagan, and others like her, living with first hand experience of what might be avoided in the future, has good cause for advocating the research. My thoughts and heart have gone out to her for many years, and to Ronald Reagan too. That is a woman who has earned the admiration and love of this country, I can't help but think twice and hold much respect for the opinions she holds. I'm still looking for my own ltlmac70 version of a compromise. That's how I try to tackle the most diversive of issues. I think the best President of all time will be the one who tries to find middle ground on these types of issues, I guess then it'll be up to the rest of us to meet him there...

Once legal-you'll be first to donate? How about donating to a sperm bank-lots of ladies want the kids but no man around?

The cause has to be legalized first...
I'm not advocating breaking any laws. By the way, I don't think anyone's family should be forced to donate.

Exactly...
I will be a long uphill pull, so the earlier we get started the sooner we crest the hill.

It isnt a problem that is going to be cured overnight
it will take years of research. That said without the research and studies then there never will be a cure. Why not make the most out of what some consider a horrific act and turn it into a life saving cure.
