Wonderful stories
Thanks so much for reading and sharing.  That is exactly why truckers are (or used to be) called the Knights of the Highway.  I'm so proud to be married to one.

Truckers are the saviors of the road.
I can't tell how many times truckers have aided me in my travels.  I've been caught in horrific and violent storms and have had truckers purposively ride in front of me when they saw I was driving slowly and breaking often because of no visibility.  And I do mean purposively, where  the trucker and I are the only ones on the highway. I also had my life saved by a truck driver.  We had an ice storm in NYC and I was driving back from work, sliding all over.  When the street became very steep my car began to slide down it--right into a busy intersection.  A truck driver, stopped at the traffic light, glanced up the hill and saw my car sliding down it.  He stopped traffic by positioning his truck across the intersection.  My car stopped within feet of his cab.  Had he not stopped traffic, the result would have been catastrophic.

It is starting to show,

and there are other frustrations, including the new federal time requirements that, while enforcing rest time that some employers may not have observed, are at the same time restricting drivers' pay.  There may be more inexperienced semi drivers on the roads today, too, since some of the truck driving schools are offering shorter courses (less training) and leaving training up to the companies.  I was almost hit by a semi on the highway earlier this evening, and for no reason other than he was going really fast and straying over the lane line.  Plus, I live in a high road rage area, so it's a challenge every time we drive.  Thanks, both of you, for reading the blog and contributing thoughtful comments.

We were just talking about this the other night...
I have started to notice that the courteousness of everyone on the roads is going downhill and it is even finally reaching the "knights of the road".  Have you noticed that when you flash your lights to let them in, less and less often now are the knights responding with winking tail lights.  I agree they should have their own lane, the frustration that they go through just trying to do their job is tremendous and it's starting to show.

Some very interesting
information here that is new to me. Very well done! Your ideas are cool, too.
