Sure a prediction in California seems like a DOH!!!
That's why these guys were trying to place it within a specific window of time, and even predicted it would be something like a 6.4 magnitude. You'd be surprised how reliable so-called these people can be when it comes to these types of events. I'd rather be watching for it, than be caught completely off-guard. Even Californians get complacent about the earthquakes, and seem to forget about how real the threat of a "big one" actually is. Good post, we'll see what goes down...
