problme is about tradition.
there was a time when it wasn't
Yeshua taught new things -- tradition was passe.
The Trinity itself was a concept borrowed from other religions and incorporated into Christianity mainly in Constantine's time -- the Creed was created and those who didn't believe in it were ostracized, etc.
so the trinity basically overthrew tradition. was a new thing 300 years after Yeshua preached.
if we were to stay true to tradition, we would be Jews now -- and if we were to take that back further in time, worshipping Egyptian gods.

Without tradition,
a lot of good theology is lost, including the theology of the trinity. Every new generations makes the same theological errors unless they learn about church history and theology. At the same time, twentieth century theology will be different than reformation theology because we address different cultural issues.

Seminaries do some of what you propose but they do not evolve into utopias. Christianity requires the emotions and the spirit as well as the mind and the intellect. The will and attitude create both havoc and deep spirituality. No matter what church idea you come up with it won't be better than the present churches. Twentieth century western people rarely commit totally to their faith.

That doesn't mean that I haven't dreamt of a better church nor that we should never think of alternatives.
