- Go to WHY THE BIBLE IS CONSIDERED INFALLIBLE
fallible and errant
fallible, I assume, means having fallacy
errant, I assume, means having errors.
infallible means that it is not false.
inerrant means that it has no errors
ok so instead of infallible, let's say inerrant.
it remains that The Church (I'm sorry, knowing your background, Mssr. Friar) established this idea -- in so doing, it also established its supremacy.
Mssr. Friar, you have an ally in AMDG, although she has been busy lately and hasn't come forward to express herself.

Exactly and this is how religion has become political and petty.
The Bible holds many truths about human nature and it is a record of man's spiritual evolution, but it is a work of literature, not a mystical, holy text. Read this way, read as literature, seeking tropes, figurative language, threads of pan-cultural elements, the expression of the humane, the way the New Testament is the climax of all the yearning expressed before it, the Bible reads so beautifully. But it is an improvised history, not a documentary history.

"But in order to establish this belief, they had to proclaim that they, and they only, were in possession of the infallible word of god."
Good point. Perhaps that is why we are called Human. Perhaps we would be called Hewman if a nine year old were doing the spelling. Then we could all say, "Hew, man! I'm so glad that God is the one who's responsible for all of this, and not me!" Go figure, or Go spel. Whichever.

Per all the textbooks of my high school history classes I had read, the Middle (Dark) Ages lasted approximately from the fall of the Roman Empire in 476 until the Reformation and Renaissance of the late 15th Century.
The monolithic system to which kings bowed of which I speak is The Church.
If you believe the information is not true, don't take it up with me, take it up with historians and church documents (check out my ALWAYS IN THE PAST blog for links to early church history. This is where you will find that of which I speak.

Exaggerated
and false.
1. When does the Middle Ages start?
2. What monolithic system are you referring to that controlled kings?
By the way, the Scriptures are inerrant, not infallible.
