I am sorry to hear that kidnykid
because in the end it affects everyone's kids. Thanks for the post, it was thought provoking. M

Unfortunately, Mara....
You're absolutely right - Glenbrook North is in Northbrook, and that district is very wealthy. I imagine they have great programs up there because their tax base is so big, in fact - like Northbrook Court, a major regional shopping mall with enough chi-chi upscale realtors to make any marketing guru drool. These are people who, when told there children are normal or average, get their undies in a real wad because they want those children to be better than average. If they are suspended, sue the school - the child is inherently too good to be suspended, and too good to be held accountable for his or her behavior. The kids are told to do anything they (censored) well please and they won't be held accountable, precisely because they're better than average and this gives them license to do whatever they want. (I knew of people that worked in school districts up in that neck of the woods. This is how I know, from networking with them. Money goes to these people's heads, unfortunately.)

kidnykid: I lived in Roscoe for a period
and have only a dim recollection, but I believe there is money in Glenbrook.  Unfortunately in our society there are some who think that is all that matters and in some ways it is.  They could afford an attorney, no attorney would take that case on a contingency because the risks are too high.  Another unfortunate thing is the school district will engage in a cost benefit analysis to decide how it will respond.  Is it worth the tax money associated with defending itself to make this point?  Things that find there way to court are not always resolved in a principled manner.  M
