Family
Don't despair, all of us go through periods in life with  family member'swho are mentally ill. Yours though sounds very frustrating. I hope your daughter keeps the friend she made. Search the net for a support group, one that get your daughter together  with others who are experiencing the same things as her. If not find one for yourself. Grow is an internationl group and is good for both those who suffer and those who care for them. It deals mostly with mental illness and it's associations. R

Embarrassment isn't good
but it is natural. We want to fit in and for our children to fit it. In addition, people make cruel comments, including family members.

Makes2short - embarrassment is such a waste of time and energy if...
it is for someone else.  It is a good thing to have embarrassment for something we ourselves did that was gauche.  That might help us to correct our mistakes.  But to become demoralized because of our grown children is a shame.  Even if they have mental disabilities, they have the right to make choices for themselves.  If you can conquer your embarrassment at their looks or actions and just show love and pride no matter who is around, people will admire you for it.
