It is arrogant to claim that you know something is true when you do not know for a fact that it is true.
If a doctor showed up and claimed to have a cure for cancer. Everyone would want to see his research and see his proof. If that doctor has no research, no proof, he just believes it to the be the cure for cancer and so everyone else should believe it as well. Does that mean he has the cure for cancer? They would want to run test and have absolute proof before they go and say 'yes this guy has the cure for cancer'. If the man insists that no test are needed and no proof is needed, that they should just take him on his word and believe that he has the cure for cancer, he would be arrogant. Now if he just believed it, but was not positive ad was more than willing to put the possible cure ot the test and admit that he may be wrong due to the fact that he did not have absolute proof, then he is no arrogant.
The arrogance comes from saying "My 'truth' is the 'true truth' because I know it is and I need no proof for that. You need to see my 'truth' to be the 'true truth" because I believe it and therefore so should you." when you will only accept one unproved thing as fact and say anything that is unproved is wrong, then you are being arrogant.
What I am saying that you can have all the faith you need to believe that you 'truth' is the 'true truth' but until you have the proof of it, you should not go around telling everyone else that they are wrong. You can debate and say you do not believe they are right (WHich is different from saying they are just straight out wrong). Saying you know for fact you 'truth' is the 'true truth' when you yourself know that there is no proof is where the arrogance comes from. An any one with any intelligence will know that they do not have any absolute proof about their 'truth', it is just their faith. And faith does not make facts.

It doesn't seem arrogant to me
to say I have been given the truth, the absolute truth, the truth about God, or whatever you want to call it. I think I could present this idea arrogantly or otherwise. It seems tho, you are trying to tell me I can't disagree with you. You say in your post things like: If you are intelligent you will already know that such a statement is wrong. What kind of a ruse is this?
I think there can only be one Truth. Meaning there is only one way things are, and many ways they are misunderstood. I think many religions and many people understand some of the Truth, and misunderstand much of it. I think there is much Truth I do not yet know, but the part I do have is Truth, and not the mixed up philosophies of man.

There is only One.
God alone, knows the whole truth. The best we can hope for is a distorted understanding of that truth. When you look at a mature Christian, what you see is a distorted reflection of the truth. At times you can clearly see the truth in them, but most of the time it just a distorted image. As a believer, I try every day to make the image I project a little more clear. As a whole we have gotten closer to the truth, but man do we have a long way to go.
