And that proves what? That you can still quote from the Bible?
What a way to prove nothing.

Mark 16:18 'they will take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it will in no way hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.'

So have you gone a drunken any poison yet to see if this works? Have you tried to heal anyone?

You, see I can quote from the Bible as well. Find someone who has been baptized and can drink poison and not die and heal the sick, then you might be able to get my to my attention.

Quoting that Bible does not tell me where I have used twisted logic.

P.I.M.P., you are so full of it
You have not addressed a thing. You said my ideas were gibberish and had no logic to them, then when I tell you to point out where I do not use logic you go and tell me this load of BS.

I have put aside my preconceived notions and read the Bible and my beliefs in there not being a God became all the stronger through it.

As for the part of just go ahead and pray to God, what do you have to loose, that shows you do not read my posts very often. I have dealt with that question. I have too my self value to go and just 'play it safe'. If there is God and I claim to believe in him, not because I really believe, but because I figure 'what does it hurt', then to me since I would be lying ot myself that would be much worse in the eyes of God (Who should be very insulted by those who claim to believe but really do not) than being honest.

Basically you are saying that I should not be true to myself because you think it is better for me to be a liar than to be true to who I am and what I believe in. I am going to stay true to my beliefs because that is to me the real measure of a person. I would be worthless if I could no longer trust myself. So no matter how hard you try I will not lie about what I believe.

And what was with the dogging on Sci-Fi (I am really not into Star Trek by the way.). I used one B5 reference because there was a point to it. It takes away nothing from that point just because it was inspired by s Sci-Fi show. I always felt B5 was a great show when ti came to some of the idea I believe in regarding religion. It deals with the idea of accepting each other's religious beliefs and understanding that there is truth in all of them, yet none is the complete truth.

And remember you where the one who said 'but your rambling twisted logic betrays its limits.' So please show me where I use twisted logic. Otherwise be a real man and admit that you were wrong when you said this. That was my challenge that you keep dancing around, as so many before you have.

I see no challenge. I have, what you are looking for. All of that star trek, and babylon 5 nonsense about Dr. spock and logic, is just science fiction. The only challenge I would put forth to you is to, put your preconcieved notions to the side and read your Bible. But before you read pray, or if you prefer, talk, to God. You can say whatever you want. But if I can suggest say something like this: God, they say you exist and can hear what I say and know what is in my heart. I don't know if you exist or not. They say that this Bible is your word to mankind. I don't believe that (just say how you really feel, you may believe some, I don't know). But if you truly do exist, and this is truly your word to mankind, and this is the truth,..then show me.

Now, here is all of the logic I have for you. If there is no God to hear you, you haven't lost a thing. But just think what you will gain, if the heavens open and God reveals himself to you.

I don't know why God has chosen not to give mankind the 100% kind of proof that you want(I once demanded the same thing). That was his decision. All I know is that "He is" and that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No man can get to the Father but by Him.

Nothing there told me where I was not using logic.
Anyone can quote the bible, it means nothing.
The challenge is still there for you.

You arrogance is becoming insulting.

I am so waiting for you to just once use logic and facts to prove your point against me. SO far all you do is try to make it sound Like I do not know what I am talking about. And I do know much more about the Bible than the space shuttle. Once more you are figuring that just because I do not see things as you do that I must not have the knowledge you do. That is arrogance and pride. It is you saying that you are better than me when it comes to debating religion. You are making a claim that because I did not get the same thing out of the Bible that you do that I must not have studied it as much as you.

The challenge I always put forth to people like you how challenge my logic and facts is, show me an example of where I did not use logic or facts and then show me the logic and facts that should be there instead. Now remember 'opinions' and 'faith' are NOT facts.

Just because something does not agree with your beliefs does not make it wrong.

Why don't you go and start telling the people at NASA how to build the space shuttle? You are trying to tell people what life is all about, and speak on universal realities. You want to speak on what the Bible is, and is not, so why not tell NASA what they should be doing. You probably know as much about the Bible, as you know about building the space shuttle. You see yourself as enlightened. Is it a sign of intelligent thinking, to be trying to discredit something you know nothing about? You boast of your extensive studies, but your rambling twisted logic betrays its limits.

Study first. Answer questions later.

No P.I.M.P.
I live a very clean life in fact.
It is obvious that you have no desire to listen to logic.
facts and proof mean nothing at all to you.
You are claiming something to be the only truth when you know for a fact that there is no absolute proof of this.
If you say otherwise you are a liar.
Because I know for a fact that there is no absolute proof of God.
Therefore what you claim to be truth can not be the only truth.

Your truth is your truth, but it is not the truth until you can prove it without a shadow of a doubt. And guess what? There is no 100% proof that there is a God or that Jesus was even alive and did what the Bible claimed he did. Right there you show yourself to be ignorant, not I. Your use of ignorant is way off here. just because I have not decided to live my life by Jesus, does not mean I am ignorant of anything. You claiming to know the truth because you know it is the one and only truth, even though you do not have any facts to back it up outside of the Bible, does make it the truth. You as a Christian have gone and decided to follow a different definition of truth. That was the whole point of my post. To you the truth is one thing which is far form what I see the truth as. Due to this neither one of us can truly claim we believe in the truth, due to the simple fact that neither one of our truths can be proven to be true. I can accept that simple fact, even though ti seems that you can not.

I don't think I said the world would be doomed when Christ returns. But there will come a time when this earth will be destroyed. Even to a carnal mind that is not a farfetched idea. With nuclear power, and stars going nova, that is a probablity without even taking the Word of God into account. I was picking a fight when I used the word ignorant. It is a relative term. I was not saying it because you don't agree with me. You are ignorant of the truth that is in Christ Jesus. There is only one truth. Not many. One. It does not matter what you, or I, or anyone else says or thinks, the truth is the truth and there is, only one. Contrary to a certain theory, there are not all of these paths that lead to that one truth, there is only one way. When you are ready to humble the one ability that you seem most proud of, the ability to "think for yourself." When you recognize that it was God who gave you that ability in the first place, and that it does not impress Him. When YOU let HIM, tell YOU, what is, and what is not. You'll be the kind of person you seem to despise the most my friend. You'll be a "Bible thumper."

I find it amazing that you have studied so much, yet still seem to be unable to see that a person is not ignorant just because they do not agree with your beliefs. You really come off as being a person who has been told what to think and that it is the only way to think. Just your ideas about Homosexuals and the world being doomed by God's return. All of those ideas are ones that do not come directly from studying the Bible, btu from religious groups interrupting the Bible to such things. So now I ma very curious as to how a person who found his beliefs on his own gained such misguided ideas that normally flow form a church environment.

"But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction." II Peter 2:1--- I too was once a young man seeking to know the truth, searching through books and teachings and theories. I have read Nitzhche, Descartes, Plato, Machiavelli, B.F. Skinner, Jung, Ghibran. I have read the Koran and studied eckankar and so many lesser theories that I can't bring back to memory. And of course, I've read the Bible, numerous times. And like you, I refused to fall under the influence of a priest or teacher. I had to "find", or "not be able to find", God, or truth, or whatever there was, on my own. Like you, I did not want to have my experiences contaminated by the ideas or mistakes of others. I did this, again like you, with the attitude that I had the answer already! In you I see myself. I just wanted your attention so I could tell you that. I don't expect you to let anything I'm saying have the least effect on you today. But my sincere hope is that someday, you will think back on these words and a smile will come over your face. --- "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God"  John 1:1

Beyond the Bible and your little world, where else do you get your knowledge from? I have personally studied gone and studies religious ideas on my own, with no priest or anyone sitting there, making me think their way.
You show just how blind you are by claiming that I am ignorant because I do not see the world as you do.
Feel free to spread your ideas which will promote hate and violence (I've read your post and that is what you seem to want.) I just hope people do not listen to you.

Kooka you post from your heart...
and very thoughtfully. Not from a dogmatic world of black and white, yes/no, either/or, bad/good dichotomies of exclusion. While so much of the world is trying to get us all back together there are some who truly believe in the church perpetrated controls that have been the root of bloodshed and hatred for nigh on two millenia now. I would really encourage you to read the book The Pagan Christ where Tom Harpur pulls together all of the myths and gods that are evident in a deeper reading of the christian bible. He posits that a real historical Jesus is not necessary for all of us to partake of the Christ that has been coming since the dawn of man. There is a gentle challenge I have put forth but I imagine will never be taken up because a literalist will IMHO never give an honest reading to materials which may challenge their beliefs. Keep on with your work REV.

Sorry about the insult whamenator, I was distracted, what I should have said is that you should follow some other advice I'm sure you were raised on as well. "Mind your own business." You tell me I can change a channel, and all of that other stuff about having something nice to say. You should listen to your own advice.

If you go and read P.I.M.P.'s stuff you will see the he really does not know how to say anything nice at all.  He comes off as a very hatefilled person.  He loves the ideas of hell and a God who hates.  I am not surprised that he thinks I am clueless when I talk about accepting people for who they are.  For him you either convert to his beleifs, or you are going to hell.

Remember before computers, if we did not like the show on TV or the song on the radio, we would simply turn it off or change the channel?  And before remotes, we even had to get up to do so!

I have not followed either of you enough to know if you have a "friendly antagonism" going, and I tend to stay away from the topic of religion.  However, my feeling is if you don't like the blog or what the blogger has to say, then "change the channel."

If you cannot say something nice..............I was raised to keep negative remarks to myself.
