Kooka,
Really tough situation! I feel for you! (Not that that does you any good!)
Start exploring your other talents too -- things that pay off in the short run.
My story: I was a $60,000/yr professional. My fault, I didn't stay on top of the technology in my line of work so when the last company I worked for folded (bankruptcy) I was not only out of a job, I'd basically lost my career. After trying to find something in the same field, until the unemployment compensation was almost gone, I decided to explore other fields. I found work as a Security Guard -- stuck with that for a year or so and then found a job doing something I love -- driving. Needless to say, these jobs paid less than half of what I was making so I adjusted my lifestyle -- got rid of lots of amenities and am currently fairly comfortable. I still work security on the weekends and my driving job during the week so I get no full days off but its a life and I always think that maybe something more lucrative will come along.
Fairly depressing story but I hope it gives you something to chew on!
