Markd,
Thanks for the info. I tried to get one of my guy friends to explain...he fumbled around the issue a little...but I basically ended up more confused than ever...but you know us women...we aren't very good with technology or cars...lol...

ABS = Anti-lock Brack System
The hyphen negates the need to put the L in the abbreviation ...
As for the light itself, as long as it's off then that's a good sign. It'll come on when you start the car, and should go out a few seconds later.
If it comes on it just means that the ABS system might not work when you hit the brakes to hard, and you might skid rather than come to a computer-controlled stop. In the Subaru I had I used to end up cadence braking long before the ABS system kicked in anyway, but in my Jeep I don't bother - I can't go fast enough to worry about whether the ABS is going to work or not anyway!

LOL, you are too cute. That ABS light is on a lot in my car, as well as the check engine light. It's a 95, but I love the old car and will drive her until she won't go anymore.

She was the first car I ever bought on my own.

Could be a sensor?
I know for a fact some car mfgs. set the check engine to come on at a certain amount of miles, but it comes on if your oxygen sensor goes too. It could be something like that. I hope you have a mechanic you can trust, I was referred to a great private repair outfit. Dealers are crooks. Take care MiaElla

I agree with man-boy!
I used to be able to fix the little things on my cars. I wasn't a mechanic or anything, but I could cover the basics. But in the last few years it's been: Put in the gas, fill the washer fluid, and every few months let Mr. Goodwrench and my warranty do the rest! When I was younger I would open the hood almost every day, but now, we are barely aquainted!

tg's right MiaElla
today's cars are so engineered that most of us have no idea of how to do anything but fill fluid reservoirs. I can be a helpless joe at the roadside. You could rescue me!
