I think it'll be no big deal. I love to smoke, but I hate for people to see
What does that say about it?  Plus, I hate feeling all wheezy and icky.

Sounds like things are goin
to work for you. The best way to quit those cigarettes is to just do it one day at a time, like the alcohol. Every hour I went without a cigarette was an hour more and I didn't want to have to start at one again. I'm up to 17 years and still counting.

Thanks Whammie and Sky5
I really appreciate all your support and confidence. I quit for 3 years, I know I can do it again.  I'm just making excuses for myself right now.

Ca88andra, sadly all we can do is care enough to be there to help.

My M-I-L refuses to drive with him, so that may make a larger impact in his wanting to keep driving.

Tee hee hee.

Thanks Passionflower...you never know, I may take you up on it one day.
I feel bad about the smoking, but the truth is, it was better to start smoking again, than to have ugly words with my mom, who lives 2000 miles away, and who I really do love, I just can NOT live with.

Schatz:::::So sorry to hear about all these family troubles. Don't you just wish you could run away from it all sometimes??? Fly away and be free, little bird! Anyway, if worse comes to worse, take a short vacation and come visit me in TX. We'll get high and laugh alot. (P.S. Try not to be too hard on yourself about the cigarettes. Your dealing with a lot of stressful shit right now)

Schatz - strange, I was just talking to my father tonight about whether he should be driving or not. He is nearly 85 and has problems with his eyesight, but informs me he is ok to drive the couple of blocks to do the shopping. There is nothing much I can do about it, but hope his next eye test will prove him right.

I do love the desert, thank you for your read and I'm glad to have provided
something interesting and not depressing to read.

What a moving...
...piece. (I did think your title referred to events in New York today, but I was relieved to be wrong!)

But I love the Mojave Desert. I love all deserts I've ever visited, including the Australian outback and the Egyptian desert.

Learn to love it, and it'll pay you rich divdends.
