People's brains are overloaded and can only absorb lite food 4 thought.
So, they prefer your 'lite-r' fare and such is life.
There are also better places for each subject and so, finding the right places for certain writing is the real task and not just the (for you, it appears) easier task of getting good writing down on the keyboard.
Sometimes, here on Blogit, I will wade into a full page post, but more often, I want the short and sweet and provocative posts to move me to comment.
I am 61 and just recently, my mother began to refer to me in admiring terms as her artist daughter. I have always been a worry, choosing this 'aimless', meandering path towards the light which guides me, if there is such a thing guiding any of us.
We all do what we must and hope that it provides us with the means to do what we love. As we age, it cooperates and provides more.
You will be fine, I can tell, no matter what you grab at and hold onto. Your spirit is a powerful force that spills out onto these pages. Soomething boreal and polar must be your totem, if such things exist.
