- Go to I Believe Jesus Was Real
there are schools of thought -- the main christian thought is that Jesus died, stayed inthe tomb for three days and nights -- ooops -- Good Friday Eveing til Easter Sunday Morning are -- one and a half days??? two nights and one day --
back to the subject -- then he was resurrected to become the Son of God who ascended to Heaven in the sight of the disciples on Ascension Day.
then there are those who figured this man died and that was it -- and questions arise about the stories of his having arisen.
my take on this is that, with Roman collusion, Yeshua was taken down from the tree on which he was nailed before he died -- that he was secreted to a place where he could recuperate -- then showed himself later in the "upper room" where the disciples could see and feel the wounds -- a physical person.
then he basically left the country. Paul encountered him on the way to Damascus.
this poses a problem of course. the basics of Christianity depend on a death and resurrection through which we are all saved from sin and its consequences.
so now we have to answer the questions and sort through the problem. Here I am in the Christian paradigm and if what I said were true, then where is Christianity?
what, then is salvation?

in the gospels, there is a real person -- you just have to look past the myth

The Pope Leo X might have used the word "story" loosely and it might
have been mistranslated later by unbelievers to say "fable".

I agree. Religion can be a powerful positive force, in the right hands. And I believe all religions are offering just a little different path to the same destination.
