I wouldn't mind hearing the other side of this.  I like hearing every angle of something.

I like peach trees too

so do squirrels

that causes problems in the city

peaches all over the place.

yeah I heard that was metaphoric about the fig tree -- another of the synoptics i think has it as a parable.

shows what certain writers can do when they put their minds to it.

heard that the loaves & fishes (2 times) was a parable too like the fig tree.

we're all waiting now with bated breath for someone to come along and give another side to this.

we all need to be converted because we all are soooooo lost.

The whole fig tree thing was only supposed to be a metaphoric lesson to the disciples, but even so, if you are going to take one part of the Bible literally, you have to take it all literally, or if you're going to say one part is just a story, then the rest is just a story.  Like you said, you can't pick and choose.

I don't know. It does sound a little unusual to condemn a fig tree
that is not bearing fruit because it is not yet in season.  But if he did have a problem with fig trees, I can relate.  I personally, have a problem with peaches.  When we moved in here, there it was - a stupid peach tree smack dab in the middle of the back yard, and it looked more like a giant weed there than a tree of any kind.  I simply tore it out and planted my garden.

you're right -- it is all just pick and choose -- you can find in Leviticus and First Corinthians and other parts of the Bible laws and precepts and charges to people that are wholly ignored.

It would be interesting for people to honestly tell us what parts of the Bible they ignore and consider not relevant to them.  There really are, you know.
