Kelli: that's the point of putting someone on your block list!
I've never done it, but the idea is that if there is someone reading your blogs and always being abusive or negative about your writing then you can block them. Normally this wouldn't be necessary, and usually most comments can be dealt with through straight forward discussion, but there are a few bloggers out there who can be abusive if they disagree with what you've written, or what you're writing about them, that sometimes blocking them might be a valuable and ideal thing to do!

I do it when I decide someone is or can get abusive
I only leave them on it for a period of a few days, and then I remove them again. I just like people to get a change to "calm down" in they are on a tirade about something and I don't want to hear their crap!... especially in a private email.
