My Day, Too

This is fun topic:

Back in my day:

Gas was $0.33/ gallon

I worried about skinning my tights (as in leotards) when playing on the playground because we only wore dresses to school then. We were allowed to put shorts on under them, for physical education activities.

How exciting it was to find a new clothes outfit for the new school year every September.

When there was still a differentiation between "school clothes" and "play clothes".

All the fun I used to have playing at the school playground after school. (my elementary school was a few blocks away from home.)

Endless summer vacations and daylight savings time.

When fireworks and July 4th were safer to celebrate in our neighborhood.

When I had two good friends named "Paula" who lived in two different cities, close enough to reach by bicycle and telephone. (It used to drive my family crazy, and me too, trying to keep them straight:)).

When most of my school friends lived in the general residential neighborhood surrounding our house and went to the same schools that I did.

When Bobby Sherman and the Jackson Five were all the rage.

When we finally were allowed to wear pants to school at the beginning of ninth grade in middle school. (no more cold legs)

When I started wearing nylons to school. (cold but fun, except when they slipped.:))
