When I staffed for the Omaha VNA
I had a staffer call in twice for her grandmother dying about two months apart. Same grandmother. Last I heard from her.
My current job used to change our schedules without notice. I loved the two instances where they wakened me with a phone cal, asking "Where are you?".
Duh.

Our manager simply calls in sick because she's 'feeling lethargic and just can't face the day'. I, myself, haven't quite gotten the nerve to use that one.

Peabody Place is a relatively new addition to the downtown area. It's located on Peabody (hence the name) and is a hop, skip, and a jump from Beale Street. It's really nothing but a huge multi-leveled mall. There's some exclusive shops (meaning the merchandise costs way too much), a couple bars, a movie theatre, a bowling alley, and a couple nightclubs. There are things for children as well. One of the nightclubs is owned by Isaac Hayes. I've been there a couple of times. It's a restaurant as well specializing in "soul food" (what else). The food isn't very good. It's for northern tourists who've never had real soul food. They also feature live music and that's worth the trip. Overall, Peabody Place is pretty cool and it would be a nice outing for you and the kids on a Saturday afternoon. Security is tight and the underground parking garage is safe. it would be worth the drive.
