Sorry Westwend, that's not a new idea.
I've been there many times.

ok here's an idea -- while i was awake in bed last night trying to get some sleep -- isn't that when you best ideas come?

wonder if you'd think of this as good enough to post?

THE LIVING ROOM CHURCH -- even could be incorporated under that name -- think of all it conjures up.

It's a big living room, with couches and soft chairs and ottomans and recliners and such and coffee tables and end tables -- but no TV -- maybe one with a VCR or DVD to run some pertinent tape or disc.

Everyone would be comfortable and coffee and such would be sitting in the next room -- very handy of course, so no one would miss the conversation.

People would feel a lot more like expressing themselves and such -- no central minister or such -- everyone basically equal.  Lots of good, comfortable conversation.

Those that come in too late would have to go into the other room and get kitchen chairs or some other uncomfortable chair  -- that's an incentive for coming in early -- the best seats.

There used to be pew rentals -- pay enough money for the best seats -- I don't know, though.

Oh, no, I *know* that I can be very judgemental. I also believe
that learning to live by "Judge not, lest ye be judged," is one of my life-lessons this time around.  But as a denomination, there's no condemnation, and my judgement tends not to be based on socio-economic, religious or -isms (sexism, racism, ageism).  None of the "biggies"--those are easy to watch out for.  No, it's the little things that trip me up--judging someone by their attitude, something they say...Things like, "What in the world is she thinking, dating someone so much younger?"  or, "If my sister really wanted to keep in touch, she'd find time to do it."  But you know what?  Many many times I have found that, when I've made a snap judgement about a person or situation, I've found myself in a similar position.  Guess I'm a slow learner, but hey, I haven't given up yet.  And that's half the battle, right?

Sounds like a good church . . . .
I do believe no one thinks they are judgmental, yet . . .

I dunno...
I think my church is like that.  This is definitely something to think about...<metaphorically scratching head>  I can't speak for everyone who attends, but as a church, as a denomination...yeah, I think we are.  No hellfire and damnation.  No judgement.  People of all colors, creeds, genders, sexual orientations and belief systems welcome.   But then...maybe everyone thinks that about his/her own church?

hey how come no one else is commenting?

"You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.  I hope some day you will join us . . . "
