I understand where you are coming from. It just takes a leap of faith to believe that there is a higher creator. I try and look at it in this sense. Science has stated that it can see as far back as a sixteenth of a second after the big bang. What happened before that. God said let there be light. Now if you infuse these two together they work beautifully. All that can be found within us is also to be found in a star. But the seven days of creation thing. No.
There was no poof and there it was. If you wrote a artistic post would you rather it just appear or would you want to see it evolve from a thought to a masterpeice. This is the universe and it continues to grow. It has yet to be completed. God is a little more clever.
I have noticed that people seem to not want to accept evolution on the other hand because they really just don't want to accept that they came from an ape. A little stubborn they are but then even more naive to think we came from a rib.
There is a happy medium it just takes putting your trust into something. The same way you must put trust in yourself to make sure that life works for you.

are we converted yet?
seems like you and gomedome are victims of the same psychology, different movements.
they feel obligated to proselytize.
that's the Great Commissoin: "Go ye therefore into all the world, making converts of all people" -- something like that - it's at the end of Matthew.
they see someone who doesn't believe, and you'd better believe it, they'll try to persuade you to believe.
I can tell them I was saved -- 1959, Calvary Baptist Church -- you can say the same thing.
You can tell them you have "Christ as your savior". You can tell them you are a secret emissary for the Pope, or Billy Graham, and are testing the spirits of those who come around trying to save you.
You can tell them you are an Episcopalian. Boy will they leave you alone.

been there, saw that, buncha hooey
I once followed a counter-evolutionist path and heard all the arguments.
the creationists argue from a preconceived notin. They have already come to the conclusion, then they find bits and pieces that they believe back up the conclusion they have come to already.
That's like saying the answer is 4 before the tester gives you the equation to solve. You don't know the equation. Now that you've got the answer, you have to try to rationalize your answer.
It just doesn't add up.
Several TV specials (Life on Earth, for example) demonstrate the evolution and connection between different organisms.
Genetics demonstrates the genetic connection and evolution of species.
Science is the process of investigating into possibilities -- forming a theory, then determining whether evidence exists to back it up. The more evidence, the more certain. Evolution has a preponderance of evidence to back it up.
Creationism has only the conclusions of fervent believers who not only misinterpret the Bible, but follow the dictates of a monk who lived in the 17th Century who basically just used h is imagination and the power of the Church at the time.
