That's true, homegirl, but it also...

tends to close doors rather than open them. And we in the homeschool community need to open some doors in the same way that the feminist movement needed to open some doors back in the 70s and 80s. The feminists lost a huge contingent of women when they gave the impression that any woman who chose to stay home rather than pursue an external career was a traitor acquiescing to "patriarchal oppression."

We homeschoolers should take care that we do not close the door to a lot of potential supporters by letting people know that we are in favour of parents making the decisions about how best to educate their child(ren), and that we support those who choose traditional classrooms for their progeny. We simply want the same respect and support from those parents as we give to them. Idealistic? yeah, but that's my personality.

perhaps I should work on an non-confrontational answer as well....
But saying " I homeschool because I want to... or because I can.".... fits my personality so well!
