I have a solution to the phone card problem. There's a program called skype (www.skype.com) it's a peer to peer telephone. It's completely free and it works great 90% of time. It only works if you both have computers, though. There's also www.iconnecthere.com if he's still in foreign lands. I can call from Korea to the states for only a penny a minute. This is how I do most of my communication with family and friends. It saves me so much money. I pay $25 for six months of long distance service and I get around 600 minutes a month. Of course the price depends on where you are calling to.

I met my spouse online, too. It was years before the internet, in the BBS days. Thankfully he was local. We've been together over 10 years.
