Reagan
Wish we could say the same for Clinton.

I don't like to speak ill of the dead, but what I've read about Reagan's politics puts him on my list of shitbags.

Why would Nancy Reagan want any Democrat to speak at her husband's funeral?

Reagan is dead, and so he will remain.

never really
Smart move.  However, it's a bad day for me when I can't find words I need in my Oxford Unabridged.  Just got a brainstorm:  Go out, buy a gun and shoot your television set in the presence of the little darlings.

attax, I bought a seven inch thick dictionary at a library book sale a few

years ago. It is Webster's Second Edition and unabridged and it sits upon my computer desk. I need it because the first 'big words' that I learned, I learned in Portuguese. So, I also have a four inch thick bi-lingual dictionary to see how to write some words in English.

I own about ten dictionaries, some small for quick reference, that big one gets heavier each day that I age, a thesaurus, no two thesaurii (???!?!?!), a book of Latin Roots, two in Spanish, one new and one very old (as I love old words even more than new ones) and a lovely book of synonyms and homonyms, etc.....

My greatest treasures are the books that line the shelves next to where I sit and type, except when I have to move! Mom promises me her books when she dies and she has thousands. I don't know how I'll move after that. What frightens me is the thought that my children might just chuck them all in a very large yard sale upon my death. No one reads anymore.

I see that you love words, too, and I love that about you.

Well,

One, Clinton going to Reagan's funeral shows respect for life and living. While Reagan wasn't perfect (no one is), he deserved to be shown enough respect to have people show up and mourn his passing.

Two, maybe he didn't speak because maybe he wasn't asked to. He may have his condolences to Nancy though. That is what is important.

attax, 'incontinent hyena' ? Well, at the least, I understand your

politics a little better. I laughed at this descriptive phrase. And, being a part of your 'leftist excrement', I disagree with most of your view of Reagan. People are all busy saying wonderful things about him, which is any president's due upon his death and within his eulogy. I didn't find him to be my own wonderful president. But, we shall rarely agree on things political, I see now.

I think that Clinton would have said good things about Reagan, just as everyone else was doing. But,  Nancy had every right to decide who would speak at her husband's funeral services and he was unacceptable to her.

My friend always refers to Clinton as 'that horny little tusker', which pretty much sums up how he ruined any good that he might have done. Failed opportunities, poor choices, and a failure to stay focused upon important issues of his own moment in history, these are his legacy. I am disappointed with most of our recent presidents, at least those who have served in my lifetime. But, historical readings teach that most were just human and fallible, as we would be if given the enormous tasks that they were.

Leftist excrement? Gosh, thanks !

P.S. I always return again and again to the Comment's Section of posts to see if the author has answered my comment on their post. I return to answer again sometimes, if they answer me once more.
