Whoever originally wrote the e-mail owns the copyright to it. If you try to pass the e-mail off as your own then you are committing plagiarism. Why don't you ask your friend who the original author of the e-mail is?

Yeah, I guess, unless they specifically ask you to "pass it on." If you want to get technical about it. I should probably have asked your permission to copy your comment over into my blog, for example....
