And the politicians are the true thieves in either Canadian or U. S. cultures. BTW, , I have relatives in Peterboro, Ontario, and always enjoy visiting the Lift Locks there.

In my part of Canada, we're up to $1 a liter for medium-test. That's $4 Cdn per gallon (about $3 US). I drive a little Escort but also have a big ol' farm truck, so guess which one never leaves the driveway!? The oil companies are raking in the $$ but the middle-level bureaucrats who impose all those taxes are doing even better. We pay way more than half our gas costs in taxes.
