The gesture would be more symbolic than useful, just as a handful of dirt, or even several handsful, would not suffice to bury a person. (Unless they were vewy, vewy tiny!)

This is quite original. Practical side is that any incinerator is so hot that it makes no difference if any more wood fuel is added.
