Ah, yes, definitely ...

I've been reading your submissions with rich enjoyment. I once spent a glorious year as a production editor at a small daily paper which shall remain nameless - mainly because its name has since changed - and in my usual life, I teach English. Oh, yeah, sure; anyone with an education degree can teach English! It's odd that whenever I'm absent and a maths-and-science sub. takes over, he or she has a dreadful time discussing the poetry, short fiction, essays or novels that the students are reading. Of course, I'm the little charmer who reads all the memos from everyone else and red-inks the misspellings and fractured grammar. This is not to say I actually know anything. I'm just pickier, right?

You're labouring at an impossible task if you, as a writer, ever hope to get that rock up the hill for good. After awhile, it's personal pride in what we do that keeps us sane and motivated. You clearly write with panache and the requisite passion. As far as I'm concerned, we both have jobs that are far more "real" than the onerous task of tossing balls through hoops or bashing one's hulking opponent into the boards. Not only that, but we're working at what we love (most of the time).

I'm new here, and looking for posts by articulate people who can communicate valid and entertaining observations. You qualify on both counts! ~ faranya

Passionflower--yeah! Can you do that for me, though?
I'm too wimpy.

Jeff, so you find you can concentrate there?
My library has become a hangout for very noisy people who chat, laugh, talk on their phones, whatever. When did libraries evolve into this??

That's why
I do most of my writing at the library.
