Language, attax, is never stagnant, it's ever changing. History is being
re-interpreted monthly all over the world, with either the discovery of new things to reveal or the hiding of other things that the author wishes to bury forever, and the language that a person uses defines their work, their constructed world.
The manipulation of language in America is amazing to me. It grows daily, making things fuzzier and less definably concrete anymore. The African Americans are not the only ones doing it however and are not the only ones effected by it.
I used to 'teach away' "pochismos" to the Mexican American community here in the 70's. Now, a niece from Mexico uses one of the 'pochismos' (border Spanglish) words that I taught my students to never use when speaking correct Spanish in the workplace. Languages melt and flow and so do the ideas accompanying them.
I wondered which word-concepts you were specifically referring to here in your post. I always feel that I 1/3 understand your posts. Maybe less?
