I think learning about issues and reading is great, but there is nothing wrong with escaping for a while and watching some entertaining TV.  I'd say a lot of people stay sane by allowing themselves to be concerned about who's going to win American Idol or something more silly, than worrying about what beheading video is going to be in the news next.

You're amazed?
It amazes me that someone would even care what someone else does for entertainment.  I thought only Conservative Fundamentalists did that . . .

In response to Eaprez . . .
I didn't write anything about American Idol, did I?  Anyhow, my suggestion to you is, don't watch shows you don't like.  How's that?  But, I do understand.  Watching a bunch of dumb jocks run around a field with an oblong ball, or hit a little white ball a few hundred feet, or drive around a circle of asphalt has always amazed me.  I look at sports fans about the same way you look at reality show fans.  The difference is, I'm right!

Amazing
I am still amazed that "ANYONE" gives a damn about this stuff. Unbelievable. More time is spent by people worrying about this and American Idol than volunteering, learning about issues or reading. They should retitle the show and call it "Mindless Junk for the Soul"
