Probably because the producers of the audiotapes feel that hey, they got a great head shot for the book, but for the tape, hey that's a secondary thing. I've noticed that too, but then, a lot of books on tape (and now cds) end up in libraries, so the urge to package it up pretty isn't as urgent I guess. How does Clark match up to Elizabeth George (really, the only mystery writer that I keep up with anymore)?
